Okay, yeah...so we all want to be badass in some sort of way, right? I take my badassness day by day, personally. Some days I just simply don't succeed, but if I could be a 100% BADASS BOSS MAMA all day every day, I know for a fact that it would take following these 5 tips:
1. Let go of worrying about what other people think of you! As they say, it's none of your business what other people think about you anyways. It gets in the way of a whole lot of awesomeness when you fall prey to it and frankly, it serves no purpose at all. So STOP! Be YOU, unapologetically. If they don't like it, be okay with them exiting your life.
2. Quit trying to be perfect. So what if you don't have the house spotless at all times. So what that you don't wake up 30 minutes early to do your hair perfectly for the day. So what if some nights your dinner has to be delivered to your house in a pizza box. So, what!? You're holding yourself to a much higher standard than anyone else is anyways. Nobody even notices that you're so imperfect except for you!
3. Stop comparing yourself to others. Doing that is truly and honestly the thief of joy. If I spent every day looking at what other women are doing, how far they have gotten themselves in life and comparing myself to them, I would be destined to be a sad and depressed housewife who sits in her bathrobe all day eating bon bons in front of the TV. You are on YOUR journey for a purpose. Where you are now is not your destination or even close to it. You will go through trials and struggles and you will LEARN from them, if you choose. Keep your blinders on and make sure you compare yourself to no one but YOURSELF. Yes, it is okay to compete with yourself! That is the only way you will get better. YOU are the only person you have to one up in this lifetime.
4. Stop letting fear and self doubt stop you from getting what you deserve in life. Yes, you might fail. Who cares? The important part is that you get up, dust yourself off, and move on to plan B. We all play small at times out of fear of the unknown or because we let those voices of self doubt bully us into believing that we just can't do it. Tell that voice to shut up! Get on that scary ride and enjoy it! What is life worth if you spend the whole time cowering in a corner? There is fun to be had, and challenges to overcome. It all starts with YOU - holding your breath, jumping in with both feet, and seeing what happens! Life is nothing but an experiment. When it doesn't work as you planned, try again. Do something different. Just don't run and hide. Whatever you do, don't quit!
5. Quit trying to always appear cool and in control. Let's face it - we are all a MESS. You're just trying to navigate this crazy planet, raise decent kids, and hopefully contribute some to society. You can't control everything and sometimes you will totally miss the mark with being cool. That's okay. Your vulnerability will inspire others to be more vulnerable themselves. Embrace your messiness and let your kids get dirty sometimes. They're not gonna die. You don't have to pretend you have it all together just because other moms are watching. True, they might judge you, but they won't be paying your bills anyways. In my book, that means their opinion doesn't matter. :-)
