"Teach yourself to dream without limits and you will achieve without limits."
- Cara Alwill Leyba
Remember the days when all you needed was a cape to become a full out super hero? Some sidewalk chalk and a slab of pavement was like entering into a whole new world? A sand box could transform into a city in an instant and swings were the equivalent of having wings. You remember those days, right? The good old days, right? And why do you think those days were so awesome and carefree? I'll tell you. It was because you were free of FEAR! Yep, that's right. You were fearless.
When we were children we had no fear of dreaming because we believed, honestly, that the sky was not even the limit. We were fearless in our dreaming. Dreaming was as routine to us as breathing. it was as common place as blinking or sneezing. No dream was too big and we had no ego to taunt us with thoughts of "I can't!"
When did we lose that? When did our dreams become too pie in the sky and so impossible to chase after? When did we decide that if we failed on one try it meant that wasn't our thing? Even children are smart enough to try, try again. They beg if they want something. They are relentless in their pursuit of whatever it is that they have been dreaming about.
Here's the sad truth, once we develop our ego and begin to accept all the lies that we become inundated with as we grow up fear becomes a reality that just won't go away. Over time as we hear our parents and teachers and the media (knowingly or unknowingly) talk about their own fears for themselves and us, we begin to believe it. Whether their speaking is deliberate or subconscious, it effects us to the core.
I know how real fear is. We are ALL faced with it on different levels, whether it be financial, physical, emotional, or spiritual. What I will ask you to do though is this- Do me this one favor. Right now, wherever you are...just for a moment, close your eyes and see yourself as that little child you once were. Imagine you're a super hero, soaring above the clouds on a mission to save the world. Imagine you're a movie star or a veterinarian or a doctor - whatever it was that you dreamed about in those days. It feels awesome, doesn't it? That's fearlessness.
So, I am NOT going to ask you to stop being afraid. As adults, we cannot rewind back to the days where we really had no fear. But, here's what we CAN do. Stop being paralyzed by our fears and instead begin to recognize them for what they are and MOVE beyond them anyways. It's scary. I know! But the TRUTH is this, if you do not move beyond those fears, you run the risk of missing out on some INCREDIBLE opportunities that life has to offer you! Fear is going to change your life one way or another, for better or worse. You are the only one who gets to decide which. Open your mind and get to dreaming my dears, because it will open you to a world with endless limits! Now, doesn't that sound more like the life you were destined to live?
